Some fear that trans women threaten women’s hard-won gains in sports & political short-lists.
Surely, if we want to end gender inequalities, we should prioritise austerity, gov & workplace policies.
NOT a tiny group that experiences huge discrimination.

And as I said there are a set of live questions. e.g. "Who should be allowed to play in women's sports" ....to which the answer cannot be -"That does not matter enough to have a clear debate and concern for fairness. There are bigger issues in the world"

There are real costs to this debate: to questioning who counts, who is allowed to be who they want to be. Such speech legitimises those who want to hurt an already discriminated against group. It’s like Trump’s overblown migrant “crisis”.

Sorry no. We should be able to talk about things (like the Q of who can compete in women's sports or housed in women's prisons, or whether GIDS is effectively safeguarding) without hate, & without saying it legitimises some other people who are hateful, or that its 'like Trump'.
