Hi Matt. My basic view is that the idea of innate gender identity is a belief system. Some people believe, some people don't. Like other philosophical or religious beliefs peoples right to believe and express their belief and not be discriminated against should be protected...

...but we cannot assume that everyone has a 'gender identity'. What everyone does have is a sex. And there are specific human rights protections for women and girls as a sex. This should not be confused with belief/disbelief in gender identity, or with how people dress etc...
