your point? activists may take it far, but being trans isnt in and of itself an ideology which promotes that, its just ba condition some ppl have, i mean, cancer patients come in all kinds of political ideology do they not?

I'm going to ignore the cancer reference. The younger the brain, the more mallable it is, while I agree that the majority of adults are stuck with dysphoria, similar to adults with clinical depression, children can be successfully treated...

im not sure what your point is? just because a (currently) very tiny portion of those with Dysphoria can be "cured" (in reality they just learned to suppress it, but it pops out every so often) doesnt mean we should therefore not support genuine sufferers at all

also the most commonly accepted theory about Dysphoria is that its a neurological condition similar to autism (hence high correlation rates), in this regard its not easy to cure, just as autism isnt easy to cure (cure in these sense meaning learning to suppress it to b normalish)

Yet we give autistic children coping strategies, we do not give them drugs with a horrific list of side effects.

*sigh* still not sure what your point is. firstly, your right, we give them coping strategies, but if that doesn't work we give them medication (trust me, ive been on them).

now think of it this way, for a sufferer of Dysphoria, they go through therapy, and they try coping strategies (using the other sexes pronouns, viewing themselves how they wish to be viewed etc....) for many this can help them cope well enough, but if not they start medicaton

its no different to the process used for those with autism. go to therapy, try some harmless methods to cope, and if all else fails you take medication

Therapy takes years. The process goes from referral to drugs in a matter of hours sometimes. That's what I object to.

And really, there is nothing about caution or therapy in the "Jamie" book. It is all - Jamie felt like himself because he cut his hair and changed from she to he.
