Personally I reject the label 'cis' which implies that women (and men) who don't try to live as a member of the opposite sex are accepting the cage of gender stereotypes which society puts on us. 2/

At the same time I accept that for some people expressing a gender identity is important to them (and in general someone's sex should not be a reason to limit what they wear, how they act etc). 3/

But there are some areas of life that are segregated by the binary of *sex* (not gender identity, of which there are many options not just 2). This includes sport & prisons. (4/)

We should apply the precautionary principle (and ask why?) before getting rid of sex segregation and changing to"gender identity" segregation in these situations. 5/

(NB: it does not make sense to talk about "original biology" when the issue is 'gender identity' - - this does not imply or require body modifications although some chose to. No body literally "changes sex") 6

The risks on men and women from putting people in mixed sex situations are not symmetrical. About 98% of reported sexual assaults are committed by men. ( 7/)

If male prisoners are put into women's prisons the risk to women demonstrably (and predictably) rises. A male's preference is being traded of against women's safety. 9/

Yes, transwomen are vulnerable to (male) violence in men's prisons. So are other vulnerable males - eg effeminate young men, men w learning difficulties, sex offenders 10/

Prison authorities have a responsibility to protect all these vulnerable people. It is not obvious thar women must be used as human shields for males w gender dysphoria 11/

Many, many women in prison have life histories of being the victims of violence, sexual abuse and coercion by men. Forcing those vulnerable women to share with males undermines *their* mental wellbeing. 12/

So given the lack of evidence why don't we instead keep women's sports for females (whatever their personal gender identity, but taking testosterone is doping), while the other category can be "open" to people of any gender identity or sex.
