Abt shelters and the rest: again, there is a generalization of a couple of specific instances I'm sure there are ways to make all women feel safe and protect all women without being discriminatory. Does not seem to be a general crisis. (11/N)

I won't be replying to the 'we are afraid to say things' part bc that does not deserve an an answer. I just want to point out that these types of arguments are the same made over and over against ANY type of 'other' (should I bring back the arguments against black atheltes?)

That said, I do agree that the specificity of female biology ties to reproduction should not be erased when we talk abt discrimination against women. They are very much part of it. I just don't but that we need to erase trans women to do that. (END)

Personally I reject the label 'cis' which implies that women (and men) who don't try to live as a member of the opposite sex are accepting the cage of gender stereotypes which society puts on us. 2/

At the same time I accept that for some people expressing a gender identity is important to them (and in general someone's sex should not be a reason to limit what they wear, how they act etc). 3/

But there are some areas of life that are segregated by the binary of *sex* (not gender identity, of which there are many options not just 2). This includes sport & prisons. (4/)

We should apply the precautionary principle (and ask why?) before getting rid of sex segregation and changing to"gender identity" segregation in these situations. 5/
