So I just got turned down for a new job (or at least an affiliation with a research institute where I would raise my own $s) "There is a consensus that it wld be too risky to have you. It is not just your views. There is a feeling that put them forward in too provocative a way"

I think they see, in both cases. But then cognitive dissonance kicks in.... It can't possibly be that we are cravenly giving into bullying and group think, so it *must* be that this woman caused the reaction by being provocative.
