I’m not saying that race and gender are identical, I’m just saying that categories work without being underpinned by biology. When I say ‘I met a woman’, you know I mean that I met someone who presented to me as a woman, not ‘I looked at her genitals’.
Yes i think it could in scouts (because it is mixed). It could be handled sensitively to meet the needs of both the transgender male child and the girls. But not in Guides which is historically single sex, but has now been changed to single 'gender'.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6222859/Guide-leader-says-sacked-telling-bosses-new-transgender-policies-pose-risk.html …

I think safeguarding & rights of girls are being massively undermined here. As they were in the case of Karen White https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2018/09/why-was-a-transgender-rapist-put-in-a-womens-prison/ … Because people are saying "transwomen are women" & using 'gender' when we mean 'sex' and dissent is being squashed https://janeclarejones.com/2018/09/26/twitter-trans-rights-totalitarianism-and-the-erasure-of-sex/ …pic.twitter.com/i414Zdx137

I don’t know how that convo went, and tbh I don’t think the daily mail is a reliable source. In general I think you can protect girls (in the ways we’ve described) without being transphobic. I do think misgendering people is transphobic. Let’s talk more in person! :)

Me either Arthur. I dont tweet stories that are in the Mail unless I check out & know the source is reliable. If we define recognising that men are men as transphobic then we undermine safety of women & girls. Being honest does not mean we cannot respect & protect trans people
