To your question, I would just prefer that we stop using any category words re sex at all. Want to talk about reproduction, talk about each individuals reproductive organs. Want to talk about hormones, talk about their endocrine systems. Doesn't force anyone to change themselves

Ppl can refer to themselves in any way they like. They cannot compel others to see them that way (of course it is polite in. most situations). The answer to the Q "what sex are you?" is not about gender identity. (& we should get better at get better at distinguishing concepts)
