If Bunce feels in whole or in part a woman, then he would count as one. But I feel like one could make reasoned arguments either way, and that's ok. Seems to me the point of the pledge is to be effective in the 99% of cases where there is not room for reasoned argument.

#manels scenario (I asked it as a practical example to see what people think is definition of women, & whether commitments made specifically to women as a group include men who identify as trans)..
.. I think you are conflating two different things 1)transwomen are vulnerable people & therefore should be protected, championed etc.. Yes I agree. 2)Transwomen are women. No this is not true. Its not GCSE biology. People w male bodies who say they are women do not become women

You don't need to believe 2) to support 1). Believing 1) does not give any reason to believe 2) In fact I wonder if most people who say they believe number 2 really believe it. It certainly doesn't seem to be the kind of belief we form based on evidence

interesting, what is your definition of a "male body"? again, if you suddenly found out you had a lot of Y chromosomes in your body, would you suddenly have a "male body"?

It seems unlikely after giving birth twice. But I could be one of those women with a rare intersex condition where the SRY region of the Y chromosome isn't working as normal. But yes I'd still be female.
