Kudos to the brilliant @m_clem & many others, condemning Gilead's/ World Bank's decision to overlook sexual harassment.
But as I've always said, naming and shaming is not enough. We need independent external review of all organisations, to hold them accountable & curb abuse. https://twitter.com/BerkOzler12/status/1018019214286868480 …

Replying to @_alice_evans @m_clem
In this case it seems like it was the independent external review which made this ' call! The World Bank's response *was* to fired him, and they defended that decision to the tribunal. The tribunal ruled they should reinstate.pic.twitter.com/W9orcpK9o6

This may seem semantics but if the IMF appoints the Tribunal members then it's actually an internal body, albeit staffed by judicial people. So not clear how their decision would align with that of a Court, either civil or criminal.

Sort of - the WB Executive Directors (i.e. govt representatives of member countries) appoint the people who sit on the panel. Tweeps are jumping to the conclusion that WB HR swept this under the carpet, when if fact it looks like the opposite - they fired the guy.

Anger should be directed in the right direction though. Most people responding think that the WB are saying this *does not* constitute creating a hostile hostile workplace & isn't a sackable offence https://twitter.com/i/moments/1018192937321189376 … When in fact it seems like the opposite is true

Thanks Alice - I didn't mean that u, or anyone was misleading, but I do think it's worth us understanding what the bank did, vs decision by the tribunal (and what that is). Even tho outcome here seems unsatisfactory the case is different from ones of complaints being hushed up

Isnt that what the Tribunal is in this case ? I don't know what a 'public body reviewing all these decisions' would be?(all employment decisions where there is a sexual harassment aspect? Globally?) What would '0 tolerance' mean if there are disputed accounts?
