Two related bombshell revelations following today's hearing: 1) US prosecutors are arguing the 1st amendment doesn't apply to foreign journalists; 2) #JulianAssange will be under Special Administrative Measures if extradited. @JohnWRees, @DEAcampaign, reacts to both:pic.twitter.com/m6WBoaaNqo

Christine Assange said in 2012 that "special administrative measures increased the amount of torture that they are legally allowed to do." They did the same to Chelsea Manning. It should not be permitted as an option for the US to take.

So the US prosecutors are basically calling their own Constitution void. If I was the FBI I would arrest them for treason.

Sheer stupidity from a policy standpoint: the 1st amendment by design applies not just to those who publish but to publics right to know; i.e., speakers & listeners. Moreover US cannot cherry pick applying foreign impact w/domestic results but not protections extended beyond land

that's what i was wondering. how do you argue authority/jurisdiction if you're making a "foreign journalism" distinction?

Sad to see the comments from people who do not understand that the US Constitution DOES afford protections to non-US citizenshttps://www.maniatislawoffice.com/blog/2018/08/do-non-citizens-have-constitutional-rights.shtml …

Those aren't comments coming from people they are legal submissions made by the US government. Neither John Reese nor Kristinn Hrafnsson actually support that position.
