1/2 The Libertarian Party no longer has party status in the State of Maine, as it did not reach the threshold of 10,000 voters in the Nov. 6 General Election, as required in Maine law. If you were enrolled as a Libertarian, you are now "unenrolled" as of Dec. 4.

I’m donating to the Maine Libertarian Party so they can not only achieve the ballot access YOU sabotaged but also sue you in civil court. I hope they take everything you have. What you did was unconstitutional and unethical. Everyone can see your biased agenda @MESecOfState!

Our office is charged with enforcing Maine law, which is what we are doing. Those who would like to see the law changed to make it easier for minor parties to maintain their status should speak with their legislators. http://legislature.maine.gov/statutes/21-A/title21-Asec303.html …

The former tally of Pine Tree State Libertarians of 6,168 is greater than 5,000. Kind of a crappy political game to play. #SeeYouInCourt

Fine. I’ll just stand outside your mom’s bedroom and register everyone who goes in. I’ll have your signatures by New Year’s.

Good. 3rd parties are universally dumb. Side question - Why in the name of Zeus are you following Maine's secretary of state?

Universally dumb? Almost every of country in this world has more than 2 parties. And I'm sure that Lincoln winning as a 3rd party candidate was dumb to those that opposed him.

Great, so we just need slavery and a civil war to make a third party happen. Awesome. Parliamentary systems have their own set of problems. Hitler came from a multiparty system.

Can you tell me something we can do that isn't tax, regulated, or has a law on the books about it? Then tell me how free we are. By pushing back 3rd party voices, you are helping supress voices against the duopoly. The big government thanks you.

I mean, listen to this guy! He just said “Thanks big government” unironically. You want to help people like him get elected by voting third party? I bet Chris has a hammer and sickle tattoo somewhere... on an arm perhaps

Sure do. Should be noted that the only blowback I've gotten from this tweet was from Stalinists and Libertarians. Pretty goddamn telling.

I understand why the law is there but what is the rationale for 10K cutoff? What is the cost to the State to maintain such registrations or cost to unenroll these folks? #mepolitics

10,000 might seem like a big number, but with 800,000 voters it's only 1.25% of the electorate
