    Conservation agents need help to find who shot and killed a bald eagle one mile south of Adair along Oak Grove Way. Bullet fragments are evident in the X-rays. Call Adair County Agent Kevin Powell at (660) 216-1389 with info or Operation Game Thief at 1-800-392-1111.

    MDC recently crowned a new state champion river birch tree in Howard County! The tree measures 63-feet high, with a 157-inch circumference, and a 72-foot-crown-spread! Read more at

    In frigid winter weather, striped skunks curl up for power naps that can last several weeks. During these super-sized slumbers, the musky mammals burn fat like marathon runners. Female skunks, in particular, may drop 40 percent of their weight.
