For me the key question is regarding the phrase “there is a belief that President Trump will soon move to fire...Mueller.” Who holds this belief? If they’re doing this because protesters said this is what we’ll do IF Mueller is fired, that’s way less scary.

The mayor said he could not elaborate on the intel, but the Pgh Public Safety director Wendell Hissrich sent a statement later saying “We have not assessed the credibility of the potential for disturbances & we do not have any knowledge of the president’s decision making process”
-
Thank you very much again. I guess, if I were the mayor, and the source of the information were some less-scary option, I would definitely say that. And he’s not saying anything, so...I remain concerned.
-
I would argue just about everyone on the planet could credibly claim no knowledge of this president’s decision making process.
-
Trumps new attorney on Wednesday asked him to fire Mueller. Also Trump allies met with Rosenstein this week for additional info from him (gain reasons to fire Rosenstein, perhaps?) Sounds inevitable.

The department clearly read this and are planning accordingly:https://act.moveon.org/event/mueller-firing-rapid-response-events/search/ …

I hope the patriots show up to the protest to protect the president in his long overdue decision!
-
if he did nothing wrong, he's got nothing to hide. Why risk a constitutional crisis by firing most of the DOJ just to end an investigation? (which, in it of itself is a crime called "Obstruction of Justice")? Why condone breaking the law?
-
Long overdue!!!

what a pithy and thoughtful analysis, you've certainly convinced me

Bots don’t really do analysis.

Why is riot gear needed for a peaceful protest?
-
As a precautionary. If things turn violent and the protest turns into a riot they want to be prepared for it.
-
No better way to turn things to a riot than having militarized police show up and be scary. God, have mercy.
-
I agree but what are they supposed to? If they don't show up and it turns into a riot than it will quickly get out of control.
-
Well, for one thing, they don't have to release stuff like this bullshit email to try to get people all upset and scared. Next, they could like, plan their internal prep without announcing it to everybody on Twitter--you know, just in case they don't need it. Seems needless.
-
Very true. That's why I have my suspicions about this. I don't think think they would let this email get out if they really planned on essentially millitarizing the police.
-
Good point. Maybe somebody is trying to get a scoop, eh? Irresponsible.
-
That seems likely. I haven't seen this reported anywhere else so it makes me think somebody made this up and got some reporters to believe it.
