    It’s not just “poverty” that makes Black people predisposed to the worst effects of COVID...it’s also the way Black patients are less likely to be believed, are seen as uncooperative & whose pain is not taken seriously. The cumulative consequences of being seen as undeserving.

    What's so disturbing is this man went to the hospital twice & was sent home, even though he was clearly ill, according to his wife: "I said, “Well, what about the oxygen?” His fingertips were blue. They said that there was no reason to do anything."
