The hard work to deliver a better Nigeria continues, building on the foundations of peace, rule of law and opportunities for all. We have no other motive than to serve Nigeria with our hearts and might, and build a nation which we and generations to come can be proud of.

In the area of security, we have changed the Service Chiefs and the Inspector-General, and we are demanding that they rise fully to the challenges confronting us. There must be zero tolerance for all those those bent on destroying our country by promoting crime and insurrection!

I have assured INEC that we will make available to them everything they need to operate efficiently, so that no one will say we don’t want to go, or that we want a third term. There will be no excuse for failure. We will meet all of INEC’s demands.

I received a briefing today from the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on the series of attacks on their facilities nationwide. These attacks are totally unacceptable, and we will not allow those behind them to achieve their evil objectives.

I receive daily security reports on the attacks on critical national infrastructure, and it is very clear that those behind them want this administration to fail. Whoever wants the destruction of the system will soon have the shock of their lives. We’ve given them enough time.

I met with former President Jonathan this morning, on the situation in Mali, where he is ECOWAS Special Envoy & Mediator. I am calling on all actors and stakeholders to come together for the peace, unity and security of Mali. We cannot afford a further escalation of this crisis.

Pleased to host the Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya, HE Mohammed Younis Menfi, today. Chad and Niger have extensive borders with Libya, and they are our immediate neighbours. Whatever affects them affects us. The stability or instability of Libya directly affects us.

This crash is one mortal blow to our underbelly, at a time our Armed Forces are poised to end the security challenges facing the country. My condolences to the families of the deceased, the entire military, and all Nigerians. The deaths of these officers will not be in vain!

We also welcome their interest in expanding their investments not only in oil and gas in Nigeria, but also in renewable energy, and other areas. Nigeria and @Total will continue to be strong partners for investment and development, for the mutual benefit of both parties.

@Total has been an important part of Nigeria’s oil and gas journey for decades, and we thank them for their consistency. We will continue to work hard to enhance fiscal stability that will favour them and other investors in Nigeria.

In my meeting today with the Chairman and CEO of @Total, , I stressed the fact that Nigeria is more a gas country than a crude oil country. Our administration is laying a solid foundation for Nigeria to realise its full gas potential.

The Debt Service suspension by France and the G-20 does not go far enough. African countries need more by way of sustainable and affordable financing solutions, including debt relief, and very importantly, financing support for green energy investment.

France, the entire G20, EU & global financial institutions should do more to support African countries to mitigate the social & economic impact of the Coronavirus pandemic. Debt restructuring and relief, fair & equitable vaccine distribution—these and more should be on the table.

It is a great loss not only to the Nigerian military, but also to the country, because of his patriotic sacrifices in defence of our unity and territorial integrity. General Dogonyaro’s incalculable contributions will be remembered for years to come.

The death of Lieutenant General Joshua Dogonyaro (Rtd) comes as a great shock to me because as a soldier, I know what it means to lose such an officer and a gentleman who gave his best in the service of the country.

We must resist the temptation to retreat into our communities. I urge our political and religious leaders as well as traditional rulers to encourage our citizens to turn towards one another in love and compassion.
