Here in #Wyoming, the #MullenFire is nearly 14,000 acres large & multiple areas have already been evacuated. Next year's wildfire season will likely be worse. It's time to get real about droughts, wildfires & Wyoming's future.
Last week, eleven #Wyoming counties were designated as natural disaster areas due to drought. It's going to keep getting worse. By 2040, WY is expected to see a 40% increase in severe droughts (h/t http://statesatrisk.org ).
Worse droughts = not enough water for irrigation or forage for cows. That's hugely harmful to farmers + ranchers.
Here's where wildfires come in. Worse droughts = dryer forests = increased wildfire danger. And 82% of Wyomingites "live in areas at an elevated risk of wildfire" (h/t @amprog).
To #KeepWyomingWyoming, we need to address the reason that droughts & wildfires are worsening: climate change. And for that, we need #ScienceInTheSenate.
That being said, I get the impression you don't agree with @realDonaldTrump 's assessment that our forest floors are dirty and that money funded for brooms probably won't help? Honestly, good luck with your campaign! I truly hope you win. We need more people like you.
