People have been complaining that they hate the new WP editor but I haven't even got it yet. Do you have to enable it or something?

What version of WordPress do you have? The new editor is in 5.x, but the old editor might still be enabled...
I don't know. But I got WP 2 years ago and haven't updated it. So unless it's automatic I probably don't have it. But today all the things on my WP pages changed color to be more purple so I'm wondering if it's going to update soon.

Might be worth checking. At the very least, your site might have missed some important security updates
