Does your proof have some basis that Meltan CAN be Gen 7? Yes. Does it prove that it is without a single doubt? No. Have you been presenting it in a way that’s basically you saying that it is Gen 7 without a doubt and that it can’t possibly be Gen 8? Yes. That’s the problem here

All evidence is pointing to Gen 7 right now Zero evidence is pointing to Gen 8.

Wrong. There’s evidence for both ways. For example, remember Magearna? Remember that people thought it was Gen 6? And what about all the other Pokémon introduced outside of their Gen? Do they not exist? But I doubt you’ll take that, since it goes against your narrative

And the assets for GO have been matching the National Dex numbers of all the Pokémon so far. Can this change in the future? Maybe. Is it guaranteed? No At this point in time to say that Meltan can ONLY be this Gen and not the other and that that is absolute is disingenuous.

Once again you're not seeing the actual picture. You're just parroting Verlis without knowing facts. Assets for Pokémon Gens 1 through 5 match the National Dex ID number. We know the assets are the same as they use the same form ID suffixes and have the exact same names.

I think the real problem here is people not understanding the difference between "convincing evidence" and "proof". What you have is evidence that convinces you that Meltan is Gen 7 and also that they don't recognize that you don't claim it to be outright proof, because it isn't.

Evidence can still be factual and back up a claim without being full proof of said claim.

That said, I can see why Joe is convinced that Meltan is Gen 7. The numbering system present in GO and the main series is more concrete evidence to support the claim that Meltan is Gen 7 than the patterns of release for new Pokémon in the past because those can change very easily

I'm still not totally convinced myself, but that's not the point. What I don't like to see is people bickering about who's attacking who. Please people! Just drop it!

Agreed, this argument is pointless and I agree to that, I agree that yes it could just as well be a gen 7 pokemon as well as a gen 8 and most evidence right now show it to be gen 7. But I guess we won't know till the pokemon company confirms it.

@JoeMerrick I still respect your work, I know you're a great person and I can see why you assumed that but you need to remember that you aren't the pokemon company, and that was all wrong sometimes. Sorry about all of this let's just be friends ok.
