#C64 #SoulForce update: well, here's a WIP video of stage 4 as it currently looks... played on Easy difficulty level (needs adjustment). BTW, the music needs redoing, but that's on my to-do list once all the stages have been finalised.

I started programming back in the 80s, so by now I have close to 40 years of programming experience.
Going back to 6502 assembly is my way of having fun.
Plus, it helps having a suite of tools running on a modern PC. -
From what I understand, you're also doing the music and graphics, and you have not one but TWO amazing C64 projects in the works. You really deserve some kind of medal for this.

Contemporary homebrew games are lovingly crafted using modern dev tools (a huge convenience in terms of revision & iteration); whereas back in the day commercial games got churned out under publisher pressure with primitive tools. No wonder modern homebrews are of higher quality.

Sure, but it's not like no one has ever made a game that was a genuine labor of love back in the day. But yeah, we do have decades of demo and homebrew scene, pushing forward what's possible on the C64. Looking at some demos, it's hard to believe they're running on stock C64.
