YO! This was BY FAR the most incredible “first” moment in Friday harbor....I SAW A BARNACLE FEEDING! Not only have I never seen a barnacle before, I never knew quite how they functioned. Fun fact - barnacles are a type of crustacean (like crabs/lobsters)! They start as small larvae that search for a place to settle at which point they develop into the famous sessile stage. Those are its cirri (homologous to legs) that it uses to bring food to its mouth
