Take on Warren is she's a left populist at heart, w/ technocratic chops, who was pushed from her team early to lean on the latter, & once she brought on advisors from other sunk campaigns, she was pushed to ditch populist messaging altogether. Never trust the consultant class.

I mean, power does and says what it wants, for as long as it can get away with it. But I'm gonna vent damn it.

"You think Bernie can defeat Trump?" Hahaha "You think Bernie can govern anything resembling a social democratic coalition?" Hahaha It's just an infinite loop of hahahas, entirely unharnessed from the empirical record, and entirely devoid of accountability or introspection.

The flip side is the left never gets credit for anything. We predicted most of what's now happening in the Democratic primary a long while ago and we're still being treated like total cranks.

One of the weirder things about living now is having every serious person argue about "electability" or "X can never happen" one day, and then when proven wrong, seamlessly move to their next set of "electability" or "X can never happen" arguments with total and utter impunity.

So far I've got two definite yeses (Spanish and Finnish popular front), two maybes (French and US popular fronts), and a real zinger (CPC-KMT v. imperial Japan)... any others? In Latin America maybe? Africa? Somewhere?

All scolds suck, but vote scolds are the lamest of them. Just give people a politics they can rally behind. It really is that simple.

The popular conceit on here that the flippancy of the Chapo crew will have any decisive effect on the outcome of the general election is definitely one of the more preposterous conceits on here.
