We're still waiting for some outstanding absentee ballots to be counted, but it's looking like our team is headed for a victory! 🥳 Thank you to all 5k+ people who trusted me with their vote. I couldn't be more honored to represent the district I've called home my whole life! 💜

NYS deserves a Chief judge who has a history of defending and strengthening labor and reproductive rights. Hector LaSalle isn't it. Our statement calling for the NYS Senate to reject the nomination of Hector LaSalle 👇

Today, my colleagues and I are calling on the NYS Senate to reject the nomination of Hector LaSalle to the Court of Appeals. His record on labor and reproductive rights, in particular, is not in line with our Brooklyn values. Our state deserves better.
Brooklyn District Leaders issue the below joint statement:

“When Chief Judge Janet DiFiore resigned in August, it provided Governor Kathy Hochul a unique opportunity to rebalance the New York State Court of Appeals. While the United States Supreme Court is systematically dismantling our rights, New York State must be a beacon for the rights of women, workers, and of our LGBTQIA neighbors.

That is why we are disturbed by the nomination of Justice Hector LaSalle to fill the vacancy; a record that does not live up to the values that New Yorkers deserve. Justice LaSalle’s record of protecting crisis pregnancy centers and weakening the rights of unions are not acceptable to who we are and aspire to be. We urge the Senate Judiciary Committee and the Senate as a whole to vote no and for the Governor to consider a Chief Judge with a proven history that will uplift our values as New Yorkers.”

I'm counting on my own Senator () do everything in his power to prevent this nomination from going through

Today Nancy Pelosi hands the gavel over to the GOP. If it weren't for the dysfunction of the NYS Dem Party, we wouldn't be here. Our local Dem leader, Jay Jacobs, takes our communities for granted while refusing to stand up for democracy. For that & more, Jay Jacobs has gotta go.

What's wild is the “but he's Latino” + “but his qualifications” argument on LaSalle. Ruben Diaz Sr is Latino and on paper had qualifications but did most Dems elevate him to higher office when he ran for Congress? No. LaSalle is anti-choice & anti-union. Keep it consistent.

Pro tip for NYCers who want to holiday shop while being budget and/or environment conscious: Wander around a neighborhood like Park Slope and you'll come across tons of free books, toys, furniture and more just sitting on stoops & curbs for someone to take!

Really disappointed that saw with his own eyes the way that Republicans campaigned in Southern Brooklyn this year - the targeted harassment, blatant lying, and undermining of democracy - and then thought to himself "this is the party for me"

Really scary to think about the fact that I was out at a queer bar on Saturday night at the same exact time that another queer bar was being violently attacked. It could've been me & my friends. Feeling almost numb at this point. Love & solidarity to the whole rainbow squad ✊🏻🏳️‍🌈
