The fact that we don’t talk more about abortions means people get caught flat footed when they need them! Years ago I had a roommate who had some issue with her appointment at PPNYC and wanted to get an abortion elsewhere and had NO IDEA where else she could go. In Manhattan!!!

I happened to know that East Side Gynecology does abortions — which I only knew because at my job that was where we’d take young women who wanted abortions — and so we got her an appointment there, but how fucked is it that she had to know me to find that out?

The unsaid detail here, of course, was the fear that googling “NYC abortion” would just get you fake clinics. Which is also such a fucked up thing!

There are more than two places that do abortion in NYC of course: http://www.bookofchoices.org/ Also I’m pleased to report that you actually *can* select abortion as a procedure on ZocDoc, so there is that.
