The Guardian calls it out, as they should, as toxic behavior. Bonus points for name-checking and her excellent piece on weaponized white tears.

You don’t get to spend 8 yrs telling Obama to “go back 2 Kenya,“ calling his wife a “gorilla in heels,“ disrespecting his children, being racist birthers, calling him antichrist & praying Psalm 109:8... ...and now quote Romans 13 demanding we respect the white supremacist POTUS.

  5. Even when we didn't have much, I never knew cuz I wanted for nothing. I always made sure I did well but she in turn trusted me with my life and let me dream. The biggest pleasure of my life is being able to show her that all her work and sacrifices were not in vain.

  6. On this Mother's Day, I reflect on the many sacrifices my mom has made for me to allow me to do all that I do now. Moving us to the US and leaving everything she knew behind. I knew I could take risks cuz I always had her to fall back on.

  7. At my book launch party in Sep 2016, my mom asked the DJ to dedicate a song to her (ha!). 2 weeks later, I called her and said she could quit her job cuz I got her from then on. It is my proudest accomplishment. Happy Mother's Day to my Queen. I am because she is. ❤

I would tune in FAITHFULLY. I want all the cultures. I wanna see Chinese moms shading each other’s noodles. Mexican moms talking cash shit about Mole sauce. South Asian moms going in about Daal Roti. Inject it into my veins.

These new Snapchat filters got y’all out here having fun with gender roles, joking about sex with your homeboys, and sporting beards with lashes. All we ask is that you keep that same energy when you interact with actual transgender and non-binary ppl. Thanks, management 🏳️‍🌈

From an early age, my mom saw that I had a flame inside me and she never tempered it. Mom, thank you for kindling that fire within me, and for your example as a mother and a grandmother to our girls. We would never be who we are today without you. , Mom. Love you.

The myth that bad credit or struggling w bills = irresponsibility is a heinous myth. Paying people less than what’s needed to live is what’s actually irresponsible. GDP + costs are rising, wages are not. That doesn’t mean YOU’RE bad. It means working people are set up to fail.
