#Lebanon Thread: and I will be harsh because what happened this afternoon was not acceptable.
Please focus on the guy chanting in today's afternoon protest in front of the Central bank in #Beirut during one of the #LebanonProtests marches.pic.twitter.com/OSsgCMcA4S

Was all of this really necessary? Because a protestors was chanting?a group of protestors approached the gate of the Central bank? Because he asked not to be touched? (Which is his legal right since he did not attack anyone physically).

Only few days ago, a bullet shot by the Lebanese army in
#Tripoli (North#Lebanon) killed protestor Fawaz Fouad AlSamman. The protestors' wounds have not yet healed from that loss. Why is the Lebanese army being pushed to the front in the#lebanonprotests?pic.twitter.com/O3HKRSbLB5

These are
@serhantarek01's documented wounds - if these pictures prove anything: its how violent the Lebanese Army is being. This happened to a peaceful protestor who was not even holding a flag on a stick - directly attacked & hit on the head - above the shoulders.#lebanonpic.twitter.com/YWwR7NmU0E

More than 15 stitches in the head - directly hit on the skull with swagger sticks but maybe with heavier weapons too. Only more videos and pictures will tell.

One last picture to sum up what the Lebanese army has been doing in the past few weeks: taking videos & making Lebanese people bleed.

I believe that
@serhantarek01 was being eyed and targeted in the#Lebanonprotests probably for his role in today's central bank protest. This has happened before in#Lebanon when activists were taken to investigation after surveillance as they leave some protests.pic.twitter.com/WCA6HigFPp

I have seen this happen to other activists back in October/November 2019. Back then activist Khaldoun Jaber was taken to investigation after chanting for hours in a protest next to the presidential palace.

The government and its backers are trying very hard to destroy the trust between the people and the army. The army being the only respectable institution (the majority of it anyways) that is capable of uniting the people. Ask yourself who benefits the most from this dynamic?
