Luke Hall MP added,
We have written to councils asking them to get all rough sleepers off the streets – backed by £1.6 bn of extra funding as we fight
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/letter-from-minister-hall-to-local-authorities … pic.twitter.com/Z1hgem1NEgWe will focus on people who are, or are at risk of, sleeping rough, and those who are in accommodation where it is difficult to self-isolate, such as shelters and assessment centres.
We must make sure that rough sleepers then have access to the facilities that enable them to adhere to public health guidance on hygiene or isolation, ideally single room facilities.
This requires funding. Last week the Government confirmed £1.6bn for local authorities to respond to other COVID-19 pressures. We will keep future funding need under review and work with local authorities to develop an ongoing assessment of costs.
