When my wonderful stepson came out as gay at 17 he said to my husband:
“Dad, would you be angry if I brought I boyfriend home without telling you about it first”
My husband said “Yes. Because I wouldn’t have had chance to Hoover”
How it should be.

My 16 yr old said she had a ‘big big secret’ to tell me. I said ‘ok that’s fine you can tell me whatever you need to’ - ‘I’m gay’ she said. ‘I thought you said you were going to tell me a secret’ I replied.
I reminded her she asked if it was ok to marry a girl when she was 7. -
I obviously said ‘yes - absolutely - you can marry anyone as long as you love them and they love you’ when she was 7

My dad always said ‘when you bring a boy or girl home’ when I was young.
Never really thought about it as a kid, but as an adult I see he was normalising the options so I never felt like I couldn’t do either. Top Dad.

Yesterday I told a shopkeeper my infant son was grumpy cos he doesn't like shopping. He said 'Wait until he grows up & he can get himself a woman to do it for him'..To which I replied 'Actually, his Dad likes shopping a LOT more than I do' Cue disbelieving 1950's shock face

I had a shopkeeper ask if I had a husband/brother who could fit the door I was looking at. I pointed out no one touches my tools.

My mam does almost all DIY projects including plumbing & plastering,my Dad builds sheds etc they collaborate on some(although they banter/bicker and both like to be ‘in charge’)I’m convinced the fact they r equals has greatly contributed to the longevity of 40 years of marriage

My son is disappointed he doesn’t have a “coming out” story !! I come from generations of gay men so I always knew. It went like this .... I asked him, he said yes, we had dinner. The End !
