It's time for Film Twitter to really push Lupita Nyong'o in Best Actress for "Us." Also, I'm really hoping that critics rev up her momentum, because she really needs it. It's my favorite movie performance of the entire year, but I fear it'll go unrecognized.

  4. Finally, the message of this movie is SO important and I hope that all boys and girls (not just adults) watch this movie, so they know it's okay to transcend gender roles/traits. Jo's scene toward the end beautifully sums it all up for me - easily the best scene in this movie.

  5. And hey, I still really liked Timothee Chalamet in this role, especially in his climatic scene opposite Ronan. He's more charismatic and charming than ever, which isn't easy to pull off either. But obviously, he's sort of outshone by the female cast.

  6. The cast is obviously fantastic, with Saoirse Ronan in particular turning in some of her best work ever. The entire supporting cast is sublime: Laura Dern & Eliza Scanlen (!) are the heart of the movie, and Florence Pugh continues to shine.

  7. Gerwig injects this movie with such warmth and such comfort, not only with her script but also her direction. It's also a visual delight with everything from the costumes to the sets to the (underrated) cinematography being uniformly excellent.

  8. What this structure does is tie together childhood with adolescence/adulthood and create an interplay between decision and outcome. It makes the emotional scenes (like a certain death) hit even harder. Not every movie has to be told in chronological order!

  9. I have finally seen Greta Gerwig's and - shocker (not) - I LOVED it! It took me a while to understand what Gerwig was going for with it, but my God, once the movie took off, it hit one home run after the other. The way this movie is structured is just brilliant.

The absolute lousiest argument against . And I pray that this isn't an excuse academy members have for not watching the movie (although I fear it is). Many of our favorite movies may be in the English language, but that doesn't mean all are.

I was the first one to complain about the nominations, but how can I now complain after watching both #1917 and ? Regardless of which one wins Best Picture, I will be happy! And you know what, both reminded me of the power of cinema, which trumps all.

It was robbed in the acting categories at the Oscars! With that said, not everything is about awards and I'm just thankful to have been able to watch this work of art. It reminded me once more of why storytelling is so powerful and so thought-provoking.

Bong Joon Ho is an absolute genius who managed to make social commentary so damn entertaining. The way in which he balanced so many tones yet nailed every single one of them is masterful. He EASILY deserves to win Best Original Screenplay and Best Director.

I finally, finally had the chance to see for the first time just now and I was absolutely floored. I mean, I think everyone has pretty much already said why this is one of 2019's best, if not THE best, if not one of the best of this past decade. It was incredible.

And I'm a bit disappointed that George MacKay has received close to no recognition for his performance. Because oh my, that must have been emotionally and physically exhausting, to put it mildly.

But most importantly, there were so many emotional beats woven into the story that it never became our typical war movie. Whether it's the scene with the French woman or that heartbreaking scene toward the end of the first half, the movie was thoroughly moving.

I finally saw #1917 today and it was just absolutely breathtaking from beginning to end. I don't even know what more to say than that the movie was thoroughly firing on all cylinders. It's a technical masterpiece, and I have no idea how they pulled that off.

Bill Hader is utterly fantastic in all hats he wears; heck, he could win both drama and comedy actor with his performance. It's a handsomely crafted show that should be sweeping the below-the-line comedy Emmy categories. Sarah Goldberg & Stephen Root are brilliant, too!

I binged 's first two seasons over the last few days and OH MY GOD this show is brilliant. One of the best currently airing. Season 2 is just on a completely different level, and "ronny/lilly" is one of the strangest but best episodes of TV - maybe ever?
