    What makes a mockery of the asylum system is failing to treat people seeking protection with humanity & dignity. + Maybe you missed: "Both...said they didn’t know about Cyprus’ division... After realizing asylum wasn’t available in the Turkish-Cypriot north," they headed south.

    In Aug 2019 I went to to interview dozens of Anglophone Cameroonian asylum seekers & was shocked by 1) their miserable living conditions 2) lack of knwoledge of Cameroonian security/political context by local authorities 3) reports of verbal abuse during interviews
