I am ashamed over the execution of white awake nor do I fully understand its clause. “How they can fit into a diverse world”? Why do they need to attend therapy sessions on how to be a decent human being in society? Why do they need to have these sessions to learn how to coexist?pic.twitter.com/AaPOLz05vu

Grow up Alysa, the world doesn’t revolve around you. If one group is allowed to have a safe space, then ALL groups can have a safe space regardless of whether you agree with it. That’s the definition of a decent human being....treating everyone equally.

That is fine. However, the FLYER itself was designed poorly as if they needed assistance due to having to deal with minority groups. The concept is fine. The concept is of good intention. However, the flyer is designed poorly as if minority groups are a nuisance to “whites”.

You seem to be backpedaling. If your issue is with the wording of the flyer, you didn’t state that initially. Just admit you had a meltdown at the thought of something that was geared towards (gasp) whites only.

Whites only is of a backpedal in itself. We tried whites only years ago and it was not acceptable then and it should not be acceptable now especially over discussing issues that is likely that “whites” did not experience. The flyer was antagonizing minority groups.

That flyer may have been worded poorly (your opinion, not mine) but it’s NOT antagonistic. If that’s what you think you seem like the type who’s just looking for anything to be offended by. Grow up, not everyone is out to “get” you.

The flyer is worded poorly. It is ultimately the responsibility of the majority to educate themselves on the racism that is perpetuated in society because it is a burden of POC to have to feed it to you. However, the training of all of this is acceptable because the facilitators

Since I’m a part of the majority who you think should educate themselves, I can say I don’t think about racism often, if at all. You, on the other hand, seem to be obsessed with racism. You see racism everywhere you look. So I think I it is you who are the racist.

You don't think of racism, because it doesn't effect you or your family. If it did then you would be singing a different tune. That why racism continues because some white people refuse to see it. It's never going to stop if it not acknowledged, educated, and corrected.

Freedom of expression is not something I have an issue over. I do have an issue of an event being specified towards one specific race that does not experience much of what a minority group experiences, so the result of learning is little to nothing

They should have the event open to the public so they grow a better understanding. The facilitators are POC so it helps but it is still restrictive. The language within this flyer is what I have a problem with. The concept itself is understandable. They had good intention.

It is discouraging if there is a group of white people discussing over something they likely do not understand if there is only white people there as well. I learned the facilitators are POC, so it is an advantage within understanding, but still restrictive.

Your original tweet is very condescending and so it the notion of not being to understand POC as you say. Our entire existence as humans has been one of expression and relaying to each other what our experiences are. Music, movies, literature and silly workshops like above.
