Hundreds of Tories just voted to remove the ban on high-powered rifles from the #OffensiveWeaponsBill. The police warned they have no known protection against the rifles and demanded they be prohibited. Gvt have rejected that advice. Absolutely shocking.

And no evidence was offered by the police or yourself that these rifles are a danger to the public. Sorry but evidence based voting is what you should all be doing.

Also Louise the Police have no known protection against many other kinds of firearms and people using weapons as vehicles too. We do have protection against bad legislation though and it's nice to see MPs doing what the committee stage failed to do.

Considering the claims were based on using ARMOUR PIERCING ammunition, THAT'S BEEN BANNED FOR CIVILIAN USE IN THE UK FOR YEARS, not surprised thIs was reversed!!! Now if they'd only reverse the DIRECT DISCRIMINATION against disabled shooters with the MARS/LEVER RELEASE ban too?

Louise the best protection the Police have from rifles is a really strong system of licensing where only responsible and law abiding people are allowed to own guns for recreational or business purposes. Although it's not perfect that's essentially what we have now.

As a nation we are virtually completely disarmed as it is. I don't believe in the right to bear arms for the sake of it, but controlling any and all access to weapons for law abiding people is what tyrannies do, not a nation of free peoples.
