IT'S VIDEO TIME This one's about Knives Out. More specifically, it's about the 20 seconds that Marta and Harlan play Go. Objectively, too few seconds to make a video about. I did it anyway. Huge thank to Ryan Li for the help on this one, btw!!!

the problem with franchises is sometimes they're based around a whole network of stories that, yeah, you could feasibly milk forever while still staying relatively fresh but sometimes they're just based on...like...one guy. and when the well's dry, it's dry let him go

showtime managed to pull off the impossible by bringing back dexter for a generally satisfying follow up, while simultaneously soft ret-conning the previous horrendous ending reallllly playing with fire to try to open that door again

like i cannot stress enough, if you need to contrast yourself with a chat bot—no matter how advanced—in order to make yourself look like you have the moral high ground, you are not a serious person

but "chatgpt gave an unintuitive answer because it's a fucking bot" is a simple, obvious answer it doesn't make special boys feel clever so instead they pretend that it's a serious answer, representative of some group, so they can have the intellectual high ground over a bug

the only reason a generative text model would say you can't say slurs in a bullshit scenario where it would somehow save millions of lives is because no one fucking no one anywhere, ever thought that was important enough to bother saying

it really shouldn't need to be said, but just in case: chatgpt does not have moral stances. it doesn't take ethical positions. it is a predictive text engine. it compiles answers based on text put into it. and all the text put into it, quite reasonably, says slurs are bad

i'm absolutely in awe at this tweet it's the most perfect crystallization of intellectualism as aesthetic i've ever seen it's academic cosplay it's using all the trapping of a real ethical discussion to pretend to be smart it's performative self-insert fan fiction i can't

as someone who built my career working remotely, getting out of retail and working my way up to writing for global publications AND starting my own side business from my own home it's fucking wild to hear bosses talk like taking your laptop home on Friday is the end of the world

You have got to be fucking kidding me. Chip Cutter of the WSJ quoted a real estate executive saying that working from home "went too far." Does nobody edit him? Come on

twitter blue's "half as many ads!" feature is still "coming soon" and that's literally just not inserting as many ads if an account has a paid subscription flag you did NOT build a system to calculate revenue, account for taxes, and distribute payouts lol are you joking

also sorry but i don't even buy for a second that this even exists on a technical level youtube took months to launch revenue sharing for Shorts. automated payment systems are complex and difficult. there's just no WAY they built a system to handle this and dropped it like that

the very first thing anyone will tell you in the online content bizzz is that if someone tells you that you have to pay money up front to earn the privilege of making money, you are being scammed

So in order to make ad-share money from Tweeting... you have to pay $8/mo... hmmmm so you have to pay.... to earn.... hmmmm....

that's just a few of the bots i follow, and there are thousands more out there beyond that most or all of these will just disappear from twitter if elon starts charging absurd amounts of money for API access but scammers, the only ones making a profit off bots, will happily pay

i'm sure this has already been done somewhere, but since the next great twitter purge is imminent, i thought i'd make a thread of all the cool bots i follow on here that are presumably going to die if elon starts charging a fortune for people to make free content for Twitter 🧵
