The problem with the argument he makes here is that it doesn’t recognize that most of the "anti-Muslim sentiment and violence" was *officially sanctioned*. Focusing narrowly on hate crimes stats has the effect of moving all of that out of the picture.

Earlier this summer, I got on my first plane in months to go to Louisville in order to piece together one of the saddest stories I’ve worked on: The killing of Breonna Taylor, and the path that led the police to her door that night.

I see some Israelis claiming that the UAE doing a deal with Israel proves ‘the Arab world’ are onboard & don’t care about the Palestinians. To be clear, & not racist, the unelected princes of the tiny Gulf state of the Emirates don’t speak for all 400 million Arabs. Obviously.

One observation from a long walk through Beirut this afternoon: there is a remarkable volunteer effort to help clean up the debris and care for victims. People of all ages from across Lebanon. There is almost no visible sign of the state doing anything.

From Khamenei's press office. It took me a minute to notice the cloud. And another minute to notice that Bashar Assad is hidden away because even Khamenei's people think he's irrelevant. You can't make satire when this is reality.

Thread: The Orientalizing of Moulana Rumi Many of you may be familiar with the 'Rumi quotes' that circulate the internet. What if I told you the vast majority of them are fake and they are part of a project to secularize Rumi? This isn't a whatsapp conspiracy.

This story hurts to read. "18 newborn babies, many covered in blood and most now motherless — casualties of war before they had even left the hospital."

Multiple boys testified to inhumane conditions at an Iowa state school, including solitary confinement and the use of "the wrap" restraining device. Kudos to and my good friend for helping to bring an end to this appalling practice.
