    The problem with the argument he makes here is that it doesn’t recognize that most of the "anti-Muslim sentiment and violence" was *officially sanctioned*. Focusing narrowly on hate crimes stats has the effect of moving all of that out of the picture.

    One observation from a long walk through Beirut this afternoon: there is a remarkable volunteer effort to help clean up the debris and care for victims. People of all ages from across Lebanon. There is almost no visible sign of the state doing anything.

    Multiple boys testified to inhumane conditions at an Iowa state school, including solitary confinement and the use of "the wrap" restraining device. Kudos to and my good friend for helping to bring an end to this appalling practice.
