URGENT
. @CorinthianHomes@NorthQuayHayle please Sunday's firework display from next to the important bird roost on the estuary to somewhere more appropriate. The estuary is a SSSI and it is an offence to recklessly cause disturbance.#DoTheRightThing. Please RT if you agree!https://twitter.com/NorthQuayHayle/status/1455557618613772293 …

The Portable Engine was one of Garrett’s most successful products. Thousands were made and exported worldwide from the 1850s to the 1930s. The Long Shop was built for their production. This portable, was used at Brace’s sawmill in Essex, and returned to the museum in 1984.pic.twitter.com/t0PiGP00pi

The second object of the day is the Princess Mary Gift Fund embossed brass box and card. Each serving soldier and sailor received a tin at Christmas, 1914. It contained items such as tobacco and chocolate. Do you know of anyone who received one of these at Christmas?pic.twitter.com/NUI8E5Srdi

This is known as a Dead Man’s Penny, used as a next of kin Memorial Plaque. They would be issued after the war ended, to the families of all serving men who lost their lives in the war. The inscription on the plaque reads ‘William Henry Whisson’.pic.twitter.com/dTgCdYUdCE

Production of seed drills began in the 1820s and ceased just prior to WW1. This particular seed drill, would have been horse drawn. All Garrett seed drills were of the Suffolk cup-feed type as opposed to the fore-feed drill.pic.twitter.com/uI2yboL111

This group worked on the production of Threshing Machines. The Works began making horse-powered threshing machines in 1806. By the 1840s, they were made to be powered by steam. They became far more efficient. In 1929, the Works began producing steel threshing machines.pic.twitter.com/reEFKArf0a

Did you know that Garretts produced ovens too? As the sales of agricultural machinery and portable engines fell, the Garrett Works took on general engineering work to compensate. These ovens were a prime example of the Works expanding their production.pic.twitter.com/xxA63QPYRS
