I don’t know all the details of this, but I think there should be a very high bar to meet before we take away someone’s autonomy. If people “refuse services”, maybe it’s because we’ve failed to understand the services they need.
Enough is enough. The mental health crisis on our streets is unsafe, unsustainable and inhumane. Some people really do need conservatorship, but this article sounds dangerously close to saying people who are stuck in poverty shouldn’t have freedom.

The Main Library is a daytime mental health facility - 70% of the shelter population is mental health candidates : the solutions are obvious!! But no one except London Breed has the guts to cut through the rhetoric!! An Francisco we need London Breed for Mayor!!!!!!!!

Thank you, Supervisor Breed. It’s absolutely inhumane & a moral failure of our state. So thankful an attempt is finally being made to thoughtfully amend the law to ensure they get comprehensive treatment w/the goal of getting them off the streets & a roof over their head.

Do you realize/know that SFGH's psychiatric inpatient unit releases most people w/out even effectively treating them, in part, cause they don't have the resources? How about improving that?
