Our car break-in epidemic is ruining the quality of life in our neighborhoods. Today I introduced legislation supporting SB916 by @Scott_Wiener that gives us a necessary tool to combat & deter car break-ins through increased prosecution. We need prevention, patrols & prosecution.pic.twitter.com/ttXiNVA5G8

How about work on reasons ppl are so desperate they steal. Substance abuse treatment, education, affordable housing. Just a thought... (And I say that as someone who's gotten my window popped 8 times in SF. And I'm only there 1d/wk volunteering at Lyon-Martin Health Services).

Bull. If we're spending so much we're not getting much for it. There are ~7-8k homeless people in SF. There are 1200 shelter beds. Waiting lists are huge. Over 2/3 of the homeless in SF were housed in SF before becoming homeless. Problem is only getting worse with housing crisis.

your pro-cop fuckery is next level. If you cared about Black people the way you care about white techies cars we might have some actual housing.

Thank you! I expect more from the 30 cents a day I pay to store my private property on public land!

Bob raises a good point - charge more for permits to cover more security, and also address congestion from people hunting for parking.

This one is really disturbing. We need to take our belongings with us. We can't leave them in the car anymore.

Seattle for one. This article is a breakdown of why the oft quoted $36k/homeless person in SF is inaccurate. However if that's the calculation you want to use, with 10k homeless and a 1 billion dollar budget Seattle is $100k per homeless person.http://sfist.com/2016/04/12/no_san_francisco_does_not_spend_360.php …

Let's talk about another oft-quoted figure: that 2/3 of homeless are from SF. What was the methodology there? Always sounded like BS to me.
