Just want to point out that as of a couple days ago there were over 1,200 people waiting on the single adult shelter waitlist. Where can the folks living in tents go?

This is in humane. A corporate led attack on those living in extreme poverty. We have a massive shortage on beds. If the city can provide no immediate solutions it has no business tearing down the only shelter people have during winter.

Wow. Two days before Christmas. Very classy. This is not "addressing the complex issue", this is putting a bandaid on it, if that. City agencies have been removing encampments for the past YEAR without creating a single permanent solution for TRUE affordable housing.
-
The city repeatedly chooses to not listen to experts on homelessness and poverty and instead chooses the lives of people who live in luxury high rises. The reason for dangerous encampments is vastly due to the fact that "affordable" housing in the Bay Area is $2K+ a month.

You should have to sleep in a tent on the street for a year, then see what you think about who is the real threat to people's safety

London! I've always thought, since we have so many religious centers in the city and they don't have to pay taxes, that they could open themselves up to the homeless at night. Is this a program the city could create? I'm happy to help!
-
I agree. Arrest and citations are not the answer. Gentrification adding to homeless population. How about we build homes instead of tech building. We are rooting for you London. Thanks for helping the community

Encampments can be unsafe, but being forced to sleep on the streets is unsafe. We need REAL solutions NOT endless Sweeps. I’m happy to take you out there like I did
@JaneKim to listen to folks and hear what’s really going on out there.pic.twitter.com/8zpKr89QZf

Literally kicking people out into the cold is a public safety issue. Until there are enough beds to shelter the homeless at night, the city has no business doing "sweeps".
