Yesterday we saw 103 cases. On June 15, when we first reopened outdoor dining and in-store retail, we had 20. At our current rate, the number could double rapidly. If that continues & we don't intervene, we'll be at such a high number that our only option would be to shut down.

This is why it is important to follow protective health measures and utilize the tools we already have. Everyone needs to wear face coverings, maintain social distance, and practice good hygiene. Nobody should wait to get tested.

If you are feeling symptomatic, get tested. If you are an essential worker or you need to leave the house for work, get tested. And have your family get tested too. Let’s protect each other so that we can safely reopen San Francisco.

Our public health experts will evaluate the data over the coming days to determine if it's safe to move forward. I know people are anxious to reopen--I am too. But we can't jeopardize the progress we've made. We'll continue to let you know as soon as decisions are made.

New cases alone do not indicate anything. Hospitalizations and deaths are not up. I hope you have a city left to re-open when you finally get around to it.

Mark, hospitalizations follow positives and deaths follow hospitalizations. If we wait until we see deaths, we'll be in the same place as Arizona, Florida, and Texas. Hard pass.

This feels really precarious Mayor Breed... 13 people are at UCSF, 4 on ventilators. I am having a hard time understanding how SF will *ever* open if we are shutting down due to 103 positive tests.

No one here understands exponential curves...103 can easily become 206, which can be come 412, if not dealt with as soon as it's "just" 103.

I'm completely heartbroken. You know, this isn't just about money. As a hairstylist who works in SF and lives alone in Oakland this was my mental health! I cannot describe how hard it is to be isolated for months on end! Depression is not something I've battled with until this.

I’m sorry. I own a beauty business, event based and we are down all this time too.
