MSC South usually has 340 people staying there. We have reduced the capacity over the past few weeks, and as of last night there were roughly 100 people remaining. Overall, 70 have tested positive, including 2 staff members.

While we've had early success in slowing the spread of coronavirus, I want to reiterate that we are not out of the woods yet. We've been preparing for situations like this and we're responding. But it is critical that people continue following the Stay Home Order.

By not having addressed this humanitarian crisis when you needed to, the virus is shedding light on your inadequacy and negligence. This is my small business here in the corner. I have witnessed suffering I never knew was possible. You need to execute a plan from all angles.pic.twitter.com/ooaemyIkfR

You had the chance to act quickly and house people in hotels. Hundreds, maybe thousands of people could lose their lives. Every single person without a home must be offered a room. Today.

Shameful that San Francisco demonstrated understanding of physical distancing & asymptomatic spread but just didn’t want to pay for the hotel rooms. You wagered that the costs would be part of someone else’s budget if you waited long enough. Does human life really mean so little?
-
Sadly yes. Human life isn’t worth much to bureaucrats. If you call them on it they get fussy for the moment but then go on endangering lives for profit.

"We're not going to be able to just move people into hotel rooms and force people to stay there. That's just not going to happen." - you, a couple weeks ago, when advocates & Supervisors told you that congregate shelters are dangerous & we need to put ppl in hotels. It's on you.
