Finally, @SF_DPH announced guidance on face coverings. The most important thing you can do is stay home & wash your hands often. If you must go out, cover your nose and mouth with a cloth covering. There's a shortage of N95 masks, please don't go buy them.

Many Californians still have used N-95s and reusable respirators leftover from wildfires. They can use those because health workers aren’t asking for donations of used masks. Any unused masks should be donated to hospitals.
I got my N95 for wildfire protection but i see masks on ebay if you buy one they donate one to local hospitals
A little late, better than telling people that's not needed like in the past. That should have been the first recommendation b4 ordering any lockdown. Could have delayed if not averted need for lockdown.

Where can we donate N95 masks if we have them?
Please remind people, DIY, surgical masks, non-N95 masks are to protect other people from YOU, not the other way around. So, let’s all pretend we are infected and protect other people. That’s it.
