This week, Bay Area counties extended our Stay at Home orders through May 3rd. We can and we will get through this, but for now please continue to stay home unless absolutely necessary and maintain physical distance. Here are some of the ways San Francisco responded this week:

With schools closed, we're working to ensure our students have what they need to continue their education. We're deploying 25 WiFi Superspots to connect thousands of students to the internet, and
@SFUnified has distributed over 5,400 devices to students. https://sfmayor.org/article/mayor-london-breed-announces-partnership-increase-free-internet-access-support-distance …Show this thread -
It’s the start of the month, which means rent is due for many San Franciscans. If you are unable to pay your rent due to the financial impacts of COVID-19 and want to learn about our eviction moratorium & other related topics, call (415) 252-4631 or visit http://sfrb.org .pic.twitter.com/awoXfwqrNi

To allow for physical distancing in our shelters, we opened Moscone West, with just under 400 placements for our homeless residents. We're securing thousands of hotel rooms for quarantine spaces to free up beds in hospitals and serve first responders and vulnerable populations.

During shelter-in-place, seniors and adults with disabilities need help with essential tasks and staying connected. You can volunteer to help by signing up here, whether it's just a phone call or delivering groceries. https://sf.gov/be-emergency-volunteer …

We need to support those in need in our community. One way I'm doing that is by giving blood next Tuesday at
@Scott_Wiener's#GiveForAGay blood drive. Here’s the link to sign up (enter sponsor code: senatorwiener): https://redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time … *By appointment only*pic.twitter.com/sbhU6a17Q8

Finally,
@SF_DPH announced guidance on face coverings. The most important thing you can do is stay home & wash your hands often. If you must go out, cover your nose and mouth with a cloth covering. There's a shortage of N95 masks, please don't go buy them. http://sf.gov/coronavirus pic.twitter.com/MUx643Dhp3

I know this is a challenging time for all of us. We're going to get through this together and I want to thank everyone for doing your part to support our city and protect the health of those around you. I'm incredibly proud of the people of San Francisco. Let's keep it up!

Thank you for being the most proactive mayor in the country who took the bold move to shut San Francisco down early amidst enormous pressure not to do so. That action has clearly spared us far worse numbers than we are seeing.
