We're working to slow the spread of coronavirus in San Francisco, but we know that the challenges we face are going to get tougher. The public health order for people to say safe in their homes will soon be extended until at least May 1. More details to come soon.

A moratorium doesn't forgive backpack! You're just creating larger debt for already struggling families. Third world country leaders are doing a better job of protecting their constituents.

@LondonBreed your temp moratorium on evictions for nonpayment of rent, issued on March 23, is scheduled to expire tomorrow. Why haven't you extended? People can't work and are rightfully freaked out, in need of your help -
@LondonBreed Also address the problem of repayment of past rents so we don’t have to do this again in the near http://future.It ’s safe to say people who couldn’t work &make $ won’t have multiple months of rent when the lockdown is lifted. It’s not easy leading so Thank you

I’m no economist but landlords need some revenue to cover water &gas if it’s included in http://rent.So the banks could be instructed to forbear on the loans opting to instead add the few months on the back end of the loan with no interest &have the tenants pay a temp

rent hike $30-40 when rent resumes. Of course that won’t be enough to cover the entire rent so the government would need to supplement the repayment via property taxes.

Like I said I’m no economist. But it seems there are options to helping this horrible situation. I’m sure they would love constructive ideas. Just try and think of all aspects. Our community is strongest if we work together.

But that just perpetuates a deeper cycle of debt. How can we offer we fixes that dont sink the average person who is non-tech under $75K p/y and really alleviate stress? Falling one month behind is going to sink so many people.
@DeanPreston dont you agree? -
I agree,but at least immediately they won’t be evicted during a time they are suppose to be at home staying out of harms way. Besides the loss of life, this pandemic is going to Financially devastate - Loy of people all at once.
