This week, the Board of Supervisors heard an appeal against 744 new homes, including 186 affordable units for seniors and a child care facility. This project has taken 4 years for final approval. We need to approve new homes faster.https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/article/Housing-vs-trees-SF-backs-744-homes-at-UCSF-14830650.php …

Also this week, a restaurant in the Sunset that had managed to follow all of our complex regulations for a small business to open, was almost held up on a technicality & forced to undergo months of delays despite having already received approval.https://sf.eater.com/2019/11/14/20965318/palm-city-wines-outer-sunset-nimby …

Allowing for public input is a good thing. Bureaucracy, endless red tape, and allowing for every change relating to housing or small businesses to be appealed is not. Let's expand our small business streamlining legislation and create a system that encourages new housing.

This week: 20 new homes on a vacant site, which will now be delayed for months. This is not how we should respond to a housing crisis.https://hoodline.com/2019/11/outer-sunset-residents-file-appeal-over-toxic-pre-apocalyptic-20-unit-apartment-building …

Years of work, dozens of community meetings, unanimous approval by the Planning Department, and unanimous approval by the Board of Supervisors. Met with another appeal. We need fundamental reforms to allow for new homes to be built.https://www.sfchronicle.com/local-politics/article/Laurel-Heights-neighbors-sue-to-stop-massive-SF-14956540.php …

The regulations in the departments of building and preservation are stifling housing and are totally arbitrary. Our remodel plans were rejected despite a house less than 200 yards away getting approved for exactly the same remodel.

Blimey, I actually agree with something U said! Too often in my tweets I’ve written it’s all about ‘money & politics’ & U just summed up the latter. So, if you, as mayor realize this, perhaps you can cut through all the BS of this far too liberal city & change some things!

Fwiw, this particular issue seems to be a place where SD is too _conservative_ - people are objecting to new development because they want to avoid changing the current feel and "culture" of the city.

I really hope you can pull this off. This city is so dysfunctional.
