Earlier this week I joined our Street and Shelter Health Medicine Teams, who are out every day providing critical medical care to homeless residents to prevent overdoses, stop the spread of infectious diseases, and connect people to shelter and services.pic.twitter.com/HSkSFW2BMd
These are some of the most challenging jobs in the City. We expanded this program and now have a team of 32 doctors, nurses, social & health workers who are addressing addiction, mental health, and the health effects that result from homelessness.
Last year, they provided care to over 5,200 clients. We need more programs like this, more Navigation Centers, and more permanent supportive housing to get people the care they need and help them out of homelessness.
