I'm committed to pushing @sfmta_muni to make these changes faster. But we know that it is all of our responsibility to slow down and follow the rules of the road, and it's our responsibility as a City to enforce traffic laws when people are acting irresponsibly.

In March I instructed
@SFPD to increase enforcement of dangerous driving most likely to result in collisions by meeting the "focus on the five" goal and issuing at least 50% of citations to these violations. I'm disappointed that while we met this goal in April, we missed in May.Show this thread -
Today I received re-assurance that
@SFPD is on track to hit this goal moving forward. When this data comes in by month, I'll be sharing it here publicly. We need to continue to set difficult-to-meet goals and then deliver because we don't have time to wait.Show this thread

Amen. Thank you Mayor Breed - let's get some more bike lanes in the area of the TL and Lower Nob Hill, too, please. Done well, protected bike lanes calm traffic & make streets safer even for folks not on a bike.

can we just start getting rid of all non-shared cars? Other places have done it in their downtown and it's awesome . only shares, bikes, buses and delivery

Some regulations on car share would help too. I heard she was 22 renting a car on getaround. Isn't legal rental age 25?

Getaround does have a policy that you have to be 25 to rent a luxury car. But this lady apparently didn't even have a driver's license, so she probably got someone else to rent the car for her.

I feel like sometimes.. Heads just roll and there's not much you can do about it. The city is crowded.

Also, pass the law for people not to look at their cell phones while walking and crossing streets. Enforce laws on bicyclists for not breaking the laws everytime. Just don't be after cars all the time. This was tragic but most pedestrations don't even look sideways while crossing
