What does this mean? Under my proposal, more affordable & teacher housing would actually get built. Teacher housing sites currently in development like at Francis Scott Key would get built faster. We're in a housing crisis--we need to act now, & we need to get it right.
I'll add one more thing--all of this discussion is separate from my Charter Amendment, which cuts the red tape that gets in the way of affordable and teacher housing getting built. If you think we need more affordable housing now, there's no reason you shouldn't support it.
Miss Breed, what is it exactly that encourages the builders to actually build lower profit, affordable housing instead of high dollar condos?
This thing called an entire industry of Non Profit Affordable Housing Developers throughput the country that’s actually lead by and strongest in San Francisco. I think that’s it but I could be wrong, what would I know?!?!
Good baby steps. But a drop in the ocean until we upzone essentially all of SF, and harmonize the regulations such that building proposals that meet guidelines are automatically accepted. Making market rates affordable is the only sustainable way to get affordable housing.
