A proposal that was just announced by members of the Board expresses to have the same goals, but includes key differences that will limit our ability to actually build these projects compared to my proposal.
Here’s how their proposal differs: -Severely limits the number of sites where affordable housing can be built. -Excludes affordable housing for middle-income residents who are struggling. -Doesn’t apply to teacher housing projects SFUSD has proposed, like at Francis Scott Key.
We can’t keep limiting ourselves when it comes to housing. Affordable housing and teacher housing are too crucial to let the failed policies of the past get in the way. We have to be bold and serve all San Franciscans who are struggling to afford housing.
