For nearly 2 decades BART has raised fares every other year at a rate less than inflation in order to keep up with the price of operating and rebuilding our 45 year old system. The money raised from these increases were used to buy the new train cars that are arriving now.

Any agency ran by politically appointed cronies is not independent. An agency ran by a person with no experience in that sector simply because he was a friend of the prior mayor is not independent.
