This surcharge on ride-hailing trips will help reduce congestion and fund desperately needed transportation and @VisionZeroSF safety improvements in San Francisco.https://www.sfchronicle.com/politics/article/Uber-and-Lyft-could-face-tax-for-snarling-S-F-13865123.php …

Maybe if the MUNI wasn’t so awful and unreliable, people wouldn’t take so many Ubers and Lyfts.

Mayor Breed, There is a reason Uber & Lyft support this fee: it is way WAY below what they could & should be charged for the externalities they cause. NY imposes $2.75/ride (also way low). SF will lock in about ~$0.15 per ride--for years. Huge mistake.https://twitter.com/SafeSelfDrive/status/1100461398239338497 …

TNCs negotiated w/ SF Supervisor Peskin, who pushed for bill. Yes, TNCs will be taxed, but they will actually be locking in a super low percentage fee (about $0.15 - $0.35 per ride on $10 fare) -- for 26 years. TNCs publicly: 😟 TNCs privately: 🤣

SF must impose pickup/drop fees equal to the value of parking on both ends of every trip, otherwise the incremental cost of TNC trips is lower than that of personally-owned cars, & TNC trips only increase--along w/ deadheading, congestion, emissions.https://www.forbes.com/sites/jimmcpherson/2018/10/12/a-fly-in-our-shoup-the-parking-based-approach-to-congestion-needs-updating-for-cars-that-dont-park/#449b836ff04c …

No no! Why punish citizens who can't afford to own a private car? If cars are creating congestion and safety issues, tax all cars equally with something like congestion pricing.

I didn't have a car the first 3 years I lived in SF -- pre ride share companies. We did just fine with public transport, walking and taxis.

You should focus on making BART a clean, safe mode of transportation rather than the disgusting option that it is today. Start by making it accessible to only people who pay to ride. I will not sit on BART, too filthy, and high likelihood of feces and/or urine present.

Ride-sharing companies will not absorb this surcharge, the consumer will.

Just an excuse to implement a tax that is going to be passed on to riders. There needs to be limits on the number of drivers operating in the city and priority should be given to resident drivers.

Wait isn't this just repeating the system that got us here in the first place? Recreating taxi medallions >> a shortage in cabs that didn't keep up with ridership >> gave Uber leverage Invest in public transit 🚝🚌🚎 - one person doesn't need an entire car to get somewhere.
